The ex-officio members of the Council for the International Association for Bear Research and Management (IBA) serve in an advisory capacity, contributing expertise and guidance without holding voting rights. These members include the IBA Director, staff, editors for IBA Publications, and chairs of the Bear Specialist Groups.
Our Student Council will be a seven-member team serving two-year terms representing diverse geographic regions, including Northern and Southern Europe, the Middle East to Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, South America, and North America. They will work to enhance student engagement within the IBA by providing resources and sharing information through platforms like the Truman-IBA Student Facebook page and Google Group, as well as IBA’s social media. The Student Council started in 2024 with a 4 member team and will be completed to a 7 member team in 2025. Once complete, they will elect their Student President who will work directly with the IBA Council on behalf of the Student Council.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, sea and waters, of the area that we live, work and research across the earth. We recognise their continued custodianship and connection to the land, waters and community. We respect and honor Elders past, present and emerging. Our hope is that we move forward with open minds listening and learning from their wisdom and knowledge.
