IBA Conference Travel Grants

The IBA Travel Grant program reduces financial barriers for conference attendance by subsidizing attendance costs and favoring first-time participants, professionals from lower-income countries, and those early in their careers.

Background

The IBA Conference Travel Grant Program aims to enhance accessibility for attendees facing financial barriers to participate in conferences. Established after the 2014 Council meeting, the program encourages regional and international participation by providing travel grants specifically for non-regional attendees. Over the years, travel grant committees have been formed for various conferences, with the recent Edmonton conference offering innovative support by directly covering accommodation, registration, and meal costs for grant recipients. The program prioritizes equity by favoring first-time applicants, individuals from lower-income countries, and early-career professionals. IBA remains committed to fostering networking and collaboration among emerging researchers, aiming to promote bear conservation efforts beyond just funding support. Attendees are encouraged to connect with grant recipients for insights into their experiences and research projects.

The IBA Conference Travel Grant Program relies on the generous support of donors who play a crucial role in expanding opportunities for biologists around the world, and we invite you to contribute to IBA, enabling us to further our mission of fostering emerging researchers, particularly students and early-career professionals from underrepresented and lower-income countries.
