Calling all IBA members! We are now accepting photo submissions for the next URSUS cover (Volume 37) and invite you to share your best bear images with us! Deadline to submit photos is 1 November 2025.
Photo Submission Guidelines:
- Open to IBA members only (not a member yet? Join to participate!)
- Submit clear, high-resolution images of any of the 8 bear species. The last 3 volumes featured polar, brown, and American black bears, so we are encouraging photo submissions of Asiatic, Sloth, Sun, Andean bears and Giant Panda.
- Please ensure your submission does not involve baiting, feeding, or any other action that could habituate bears to human presence.
- Please ensure your submission does not include locations where bears are known to be artificially attracted or habituated, or depict any illegal or unethical interactions with bears.
- Photo cannot have copyright limitations—images may also be featured in IBN, on the IBA website, or other IBA materials (e.g., social media posts). Credit will always be given.
- You can submit multiple images, but please limit yourself to just a few of your favourites to help streamline the process.
- Please name your photo file with the following format. Do not use all caps or add hyphens and underscores.

We’re excited to see what you’ll share! In a month or so, we’ll narrow submissions to 10-20 images and invite IBA members to vote on the final cover photo. Thank you for supporting IBA and URSUS. We can’t wait to see your photos!
